Stucked in a Dead End

Tinkel's Journal - 13 February 2010

Seven months ago I left my home and my job to start a new life. With no family or friends who would care, I decided to embrace a new freedom and travel alone in my car, with no particular destination. The only goal is to find the inspiration that is lacking, for me to write and paint again.

Unfortunately, a week ago, my car broke in the middle of nowhere. With no cell phone I was forced to walk all the way in search for help. Luckily (or not) I found this strange dark town with odd inhabitants... they call it Dead End. Locals say that it's a dangerous town. In fact, I don't see anything normal in this place. A burlesque pub called Lulu's, an hospital and a police station are the only friendly places I've encountered. The rest is old abandoned stores and apartments and strange figures walking in the streets.I  was anxious to get back on the road. The thing is, when I found someone to help me, my car disappeared from the place I left it with all my belongings. That was my first sign that Dead End was in fact dangerous.

So, here I am... sitting at Lulu's with a glass of whisky, writing and sketching while listening to the conversations. There is this blue-eyed girl called Bobbi who sometimes works at the bar. For now, it seems to be the only person I barely trust... oh, and the local officer who warned me about the dangerous of Dead End. I spend all day here and then go sleep into one of the many abandoned apartment rooms I found. Yet I don't feel safe here. The noises during the night, the car chases, the screams, the ambulances and car sirens echoing and specially the strange items I found in some of the rooms, make me lock the doors and windows tightly and sleep with one eye opened.

Stucked in this city I must find a job quick... money is getting short.
